In a country like US, people dream of traveling and exploring “Manhattan”, “Statue of liberty” and what not! US ranks second in the list of countries which has got the highest number of travelers. And what is it that allows people to travel from one place to another?

The Airlines, it is! The country already has many well – operational airline services. Few of the major ones are mentioned below.

1. Delta Airlines

Founded 95 years ago, is one of the major airlines of the United States and also, a legacy carrier. It is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. It is ranked second among the world’s largest airlines by number of scheduled passengers carried, revenue passenger-kilometers flown, and fleet size. It is ranked 69th on the Fortune 500. It has many prestigious awards under its belt. It has also been named as one of the Best Places to Work. It was ranked as the 44th best airline in the world by SKYTRAX World Airline Awards. It is currently ranked as number 1 on the list of best airlines in US.

2. Alaska Airlines

It was founded 88 years ago in 1932 as McGee Airways. It is a major American airline headquartered in SeaTac, Washington, within the Seattle metropolitan area. It is the fifth largest airline in the United States. Alaska airlines is currently not a member of any of the three major airline alliances. As of 2020, the airline employs over 16,000 people and has been ranked by J. D. Power and Associates as having the highest customer satisfaction of the traditional airlines for twelve consecutive years. It has been ranked 54th on the list of top airlines in the world by SKYTRAX World Airlines Awards and holds the second position in the US.

3. Southwest airlines

It was founded 53 years ago, on march 15, 1967 (as Air Southwest). It is a major American airline headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and is the world’s largest low-cost carrier. As of 2018, Southwest carries the most domestic passengers of any United States airline. The airline has scheduled services to 101 destinations in the United States and ten additional countries. Its most recent expansion occurred in March, and it also operates from 11 bases, which is third most by any American airlines. It is ranked as 47th on the list of top 100 airlines in the world by SKYTRAX World Airline Awards and holds number 3 spot in US.

4. Allegiant Airlines

It was founded 23 years ago, in January 1997 (as WestJet Express). It is an American low-cost airline that operates scheduled and charter flights. As a major air carrier, it is the ninth-largest commercial airline in the US. The corporate headquarters is in Summerlin, Nevada, a suburb of Las Vegas. It also offers 125 destinations which is most by any low-cost airlines in the US. As of March 2020, it has not been listed in top 100 airlines but is surely working to be there. It very fairly deserves to be on the 4th spot in US airline industry due to its huge success in a short period of time.
